Re: PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING FOR THE NEW ARCHBISHOP
      (December 1 to 11, 2011)

Greetings of Peace in Christ!

The Archdiocese of Manila rejoices in gratitude and hope for the gift of our new father and shepherd – the Most Rev. Luis Antonio g. Tagle, D.D. – the 32nd Archbishop of Manila.

To spiritually prepare for his installation Mass on December 12, 2011 and to make the faithful aware of our new archbishop, we ask that in all Masses from December 1 – 11, 2011, a thanksgiving prayer (confer attachments) be recited after the Post-Communion Prayer.

Moreover, in order that the coming of our new chief pastor may redound to the good of the poor, we enjoin all parishes, schools and communities to conduct a social action or outreach activity (e.g. soup kitchen, free medical-dental mission, gift-giving, etc.) in the name of Archbishop Tagle.  We have read in the papers how our new local ordinary loves the poor.  Let us therefore mark his entry to manila by showing our preferential love and concern for the needy.  This activity should be conducted any day in December 2011 just before the Installation mass.

Finally, you may download from the official website of the Archdiocese of Manila, the uniform template which you may use for the welcome tarpaulin for Archbishop Tagle.  We encourage all parishes, schools, convents and religious institutions in the archdiocese to display the welcome tarpaulin starting December 1, 2011.  Kindly visit www.rcam.org for the template.

Let us be united in preparing for and celebrating this auspicious occasion in the history of our beloved archdiocese.  Let us entrust our new father and shepherd to our Lord and Blessed Mother.
