RE: PRISON AWARENESS SUNDAY (October 29, 2006)

Dear Rev. Father/Monsignori:

Grace and peace of the Lord.

May we inform Your Reverence that the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care headed by MostRev. Pedro Arigo, D.D., will celebrate its 19 th annual celebration of Prison Awareness Sunday (PAS) on October 29, 2006 with the theme: “Healing and Restoring Hope and Dignity to the Community” (Paghihilom ng sugat), Pagsasabalik ng Pag-asa at Dignidad sa Komunidad.”)

The Commission encourages us to initiate activities that will bring social awareness to the reality of our brethren behind bars. This is a reminder for us that Jesus identifies Himself with them, saying, “I was in prison and you visited me,” (Matthew 25:36)

Herewith are posters for the celebration and a liturgy guide that Your Reverence may use during the October 20 Eucharistic celebration.
