FIDES IN CARITATE

"Faith through love.” These words, chosen by Bishop Pabillo for his Episcopal motto, want to mean that the real way to express our faith is in loving our brothers, children of God.

Interpretation

The shield has a modern gothic shape: classical and very used in heraldy.

The blue (Azure) is the colour which symbolizes the separation from the worldy values and the ascent of the soul toward God, therefore the run of the celestial virtues which raise themselves from the things of the earth toward the sky.

The silver (Argent) is the symbol of the transparency, then of the truth and of Justice, fundamental dowries which must support the role of the Bishop.

The pirogue represents the pilgrimage of the Bishop and of the People of God in the Philippines, inspired by the Word of God, beginning and end of everything (“A” and “W”). These letters are in red (Gules), colour of the love of the Father for us. The pilgrimage is lighted and supported, day by day, by the Holy Spirit, here symbolized by the flame bordered of gold (Or), the most noble metal, symbol of the first Virtue, the Faith: it is by the Faith that we can totally comprehend the energy which comes from the Holy Spirit and the authentic Christian meaning of the pilgrimage here represented by the pirogue.

The three green (vert) mountains, in heraldic shape, wants to recall the hills of Pierto Princesa, from where Msgr. Broderick comes and where his pastoral service has been developed till now.

The rural cabin, the house of poor people in the Philippines, means that one of the priorities of the new pastoral loving duty of the Bishop is dedicated to the poors, more than in the past.
