CBCP launches Rosary for Life
campaign against abortion

The CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (CBCP-ECFL) is spearheading the Philippine Launching of the Rosary for Life Movement as part of its campaign against abortion and the culture of death.

The Rosary for Life Movement is a world-wide campaign that aims to gather pledges from people from all walks of life to set aside one hour each week to pray the Rosary for the conversion of heart of all those involved in seeking or providing abortions.

Rosary for Life founder Wyn Powers was present for the launching in Manila, held at the Club Filipino on November 11, and will be travelling to Bulacan, Baguio and Cebu for similar ceremonies and Marian conferences.

Powers has promoted the movement in the United States with the approval of Archbishop Edward Cardinal Egan of New York. Her campaign has been endorsed by CBCP-ECFL chair Archbishop Paciano B. Aniceto in the Philippines.

Rosary for Life is a peaceful, prayerful organization whose mission is to promote respect and reverence for the God-given gift of Human Life from the womb to the tomb, but especially the life of the unborn through the prayerful invocation of Mary. Participation is open to anyone who is willing to pledge to pray 20 decades of the Rosary one day a week at a specified hour and day of their choosing.

Members pray the 20 decades of the rosary preferably in church before the Blessed Sacrament, or at home, or anywhere.

The campaign will be brought to parishes and schools, where pledge forms will be made available for tracking and documentation purposes. The pledges will later be sent to Rome as an offering of the people to the Holy Father, who has called for prayers and action in the defense and protection of life.

The Manila launching and symposium at the Club Filipino was attended by family life workers, parish and school representatives, and youth and family organizations. This will be followed on November 12 at Bethseda, and at the Pius XII Catholic Center, organized by the Apostleship of Prayer on the 13th. On November 14, Wyn Powers will be in Baguio City for the launching, symposium and a Healing Mass at the St. Louis University and at the Bishop’s Residence.

In Bulacan, the ceremonies will be held on the 15th at Sitio Manalo, San Lorenzo, and the next day, a similar celebration will take place at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City. A symposium will be held at the University of Santo Tomas in España Street, Manila on November 17.

Powers also plans a tour of factories in Metro Manila on November 18, the last day of her visit.
