25th National Migrant's Sunday

Circular No. 2011-05
2 February 2011

TO: ALL PARISH PRIESTS IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MANILA

RE: 25TH NATIONAL MIGRANTS’ SUNDAY

Dear Monsignori and Fathers:

Greetings of Peace!

The Philippine Church will celebrate the 25th National Migrants’ Sunday on March 13, 2011 with the theme, “25 Years and Beyond…Pastoral Commitment of Caring for Filipino Migrants and their Families.” The Church celebrates the National Migrants’ Sunday (NMS) as her unique approach to promote awareness, understanding and appreciation on the ambivalent realities of migration.  Since 1986, the Church has used the celebration to express her profound concern on the plight of overseas Filipinos and their families left behind.  The celebration is also an occasion for her members to reflect on how the Church has continuously expressed concern on the varied realities that come especially with labor migration.

This year’s Silver NMS celebration will be hosted by the NCR Dioceses which will include the Archdiocese of Manila and will be held at the Cuneta Astrodome along Roxas Boulevard.  I will preside at the Eucharistic Celebration at 8:30 in the morning to commence the whole day event.  We expect about 5,000 participants composed of bishop, priests, religious, lay leaders, OFWs and their families from various dioceses of the Philippines.

I  wish to invite you and your Parish Migrants Ministry to celebrate us and together shouw our support to all the OFWs and their families.

Thank you very much.  God bless!

Sincerely yours,
