Sanlakbay para sa Pagbabagong Buhay to mark first year anniversary

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle will preside at a Mass to celebrate the first year anniversary and general assembly of Sanlakbay para sa Pagbabagong Buhay, a holistic parish community-based rehabilitation program of the Archdiocese of Manila for drug surrenderers and recovering addicts.

The Holy Eucharist will be held at the Minor Basilica of San Sebastian (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) on Saturday, October 21 at 9 in the morning with the theme, “Butil ng Nagkakaisang Pag-asa, Hitik sa Bunga.”

Sanlakbay para sa Pagbabagong Buhay was launched at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros by Cardinal Tagle on October 13, 2016 as a response of the Catholic Church to the Philippine Government’s war against illegal drugs. Sanlakbay further encourages drug dependents to surrender, undergo rehabilitation, and give themselves a chance to live a new life.

Fr. Roberto Dela Cruz , Minister In-Charge of Sanlakbay expressed how the presence of the Lord works in the lives of drug surrenderers.

"There are many who have recovered for drug addiction are in our midst and their daily courage is a sign of the power of God's healing presence to all of us," Fr. Dela Cruz said.

During the rehabilitation program, drug dependents will undergo spiritual and values formation, one-on- one and group counseling sessions, skills training and livelihood opportunities and sports, arts and culture development.
