“One Voice for the Poor II” concert to be held at the Manila Cathedral

The Commission on Social Services and Development of the Archdiocese of Manila will hold a fund-raising concert entitled “One Voice for the Poor II” at the Manila Cathedral on January 17, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.

The fundraising concert features the Excelsis, a Catholic choir from Melbourne, Australia. It aims to support the various ministries of the commission in its service to the poor.

Excelsis is a Latin word which means “highest’. Through its music, the choir aims to achieve the highest musical standards, in order to give praise to the Highest.

The choir sings during liturgical events and concerts and performed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and St. Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne.

It is a traditional four-part mixed choir (Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Base) and sings an extremely varied repertoire of sacred music from numerous Christian traditions, incorporating classical European works, hymnody, contemporary church music, traditional African pieces, spirituals, and gospel songs.

The Manila Cathedral Basilica Choir will have special participation during the concert.

Proceeds of the concert will go to the different projects of the Commission on Social Services of the Archdiocese of Manila.
