MACC holds 2019 Painting Competition

The Manila Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church 2019 PAINTING COMPETITION

Please read the rules and regulations carefully. The MACC shall be strict on its implementation. Entries may be disqualified for technical reasons.

1. The competition is open to all Filipino students and out-of-school youth, ages 15 to 25 years old.

2. The artwork should carry a religious theme.

3. Student participants must present their current school I.D., while out-of-school youths must present an endorsement letter from their parish priest upon registration.

4. Only one entry per participant will be accepted.

5. There is no participation fee.

6. Application forms are available at the MACC office and in selected schools and parishes.

7. The required size is 2 feet x 3 feet (horizontal or vertical) with 5 kilos maximum allowable weight.

8. The only acceptable media are oil or acrylic on canvas. The style should be figurative and representational. Abstract paintings are not allowed. The artwork should not be framed. Canvas paintings should be on a stretcher.

9. All entries must be dated not earlier than August 2019, must be the artist’s original work, and must not have been exhibited before or revised or awarded a prize in another contest.

10. Deadline of submission of artwork entries will be on November 30, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila (MANA), 4/F The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila, 121 Arzobispo Street, Intramuros, Manila.

11. All participants must be responsible for their entries. MACC shall not undertake any pick-up or transportation of any entry to or from any point of origin. Wet paintings will not be accepted.

12. All entries must not be signed on the front. Labeling of entries will be done during the registration.

13. The MACC reserves the right to use the name, the photo of the artist and his/her entry for free in any broadcast or print medium.

14. The artist grants the MACC the right to exhibit the entries as deemed fit. The MACC reserves the right to decide which of the entries will be displayed during the competition exhibition. Non-winning artwork entries chosen for the exhibition cannot be pulled out during the exhibition period.

15. Judges may decide not to award the prizes if the entries do not meet certain artistic and competition requirements. All decisions of the board of judges shall be final.

16. Awarding of winners will be announced at a later date.

17. Cash awards for winners shall be:

1st prize – Php 40,000.00 2nd prize – Php 30,000.00 3rd prize – Php 20,000.00 Three (3) Jurors’ Choices – Php 10,000.00 each

18. All prize-winning entries will automatically become properties of the MACC.

19. All non-winning entries will be offered for sale to the general public during the exhibition period, subject to a 30% commission for the MACC to support its programs and projects.

20. All possible care will be taken for the entries submitted. However, the MACC assumes no responsibility for any loss or damage to the entries before, and/or after the competition.

21. All unsold non-winning entries must be retrieved by the participants or their designated representatives with authorization letters on or before January 31, 2020. Unclaimed artwork after this date will become the property of the MACC.

22. Officers and staff of the MACC and its partner institutions are not allowed to participate in the said competition.
