Re: Prayer for Seminar for Asian Bishops
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
The Archdiocese of Manila celebrates together with the whole Church the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which is traditionally observed on January 18 to 25, but for this year will be marked on January 27 to February 3, 2007. The theme for this year is “He even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak” (Mt. 7:37).
According to the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity and the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches, proponents of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, this year’s observance “brings together two themes, two invitations extended to Christian Churches and people; to pray and strive together for Christian unity and to join together in responding to human suffering.”
It is opportune that this year the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines through the Archdiocese of Manila is hosting the Seminar for Asian Bishops on Christian Unity in February. The meeting is an occasion for reflection and generating greater awareness of the need for unity among Christians and how this harmony contributes greatly to peace and solidarity in this world.
It is in this light that we request you to pray for the success of this event. The CBCP has prepared this prayer which we urge you to pray with the faithful during the Masses of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This can be prayed after Communion.
Let us all be one in praying to the Lord for harmony and unity in our troubled world.
