CIRCULAR NO. 2012 – 14 28 September 2012
TO: ALL PARISH PRIESTS, SHRINE RECTORS, CHAPLAINS, PARISH WORSHIP COORDINATORS, PARISH COORDINATORS OF EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION, LECTORS AND COMMENTATORS, GREETERS AND COLLECTORS, ALTAR SERVERS AND TRANSPAROCHIAL COMMUNITIES IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MANILA
RE: “OUR FATHER”
Dear Reverend Monsignori, Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the Lord!
During the July meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, our bishops decided to adopt for use in the Philippines the classic version of the Lord’s Prayer in our liturgical celebrations. May we therefore advise our parish communities to include in the gradual implementation of the New English Translation this coming November the following:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Likewise, we wish to clarify that either the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed or the Apostles’ Creed may be used during Masses on Sundays and Solemnities so that our people can be accustomed to both versions of the Creed. We recommend that the choice of which version to be used in the particular liturgical day or season be discussed in the pastoral planning of your liturgy team.
We have also received inquiries regarding the implementation of the response “It is right and just” in the Preface of the Eucharistic Prayer. Please be advised that the said response may now be used.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
(signed) FR. GENARO O. DIWA Director
