The Archdiocesan Ministry for Ecumenical and Inter-faith Affairs
implements the commitment of the Catholic Church for the search for Christian
unity based on the doctrinal principles of the Second Vatican Council.
The office also promotes the dialogue of salvation with the people of
the world’s great religions in the Archdiocese.
ONGOING ACTIVITIES OF THE ARCHDIOCESAN MINISTRY
ARE:
Collaborating with and reaching out to other Christian communities
(especially during the week of Prayer for Christian Unity – January)
Collaborating with the National Council of Churches of the
Philippines – Commission of Unity and the Catholic Bishops Conference
of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Ecumenical Affairs,
as well as with the Ecumenical and Inter-Religious endeavors of the Focolare
Movement.
Organizing and supporting activities that promote dialogue
and understanding – prayer breakfasts, faith sharing, visitation of churches and places of worship.
Reaching out to other religions, such as Muslims
and Buddhists.
Promoting parish level ecumenism. Encouraging
and assisting parish-initiated ecumenical activities.
Developing formation programs, study guides or modules
for the ecumenical and inter-religious formation of various sectors of
the local church of Manila< – seminarians, clergy, religious, youth,
parish organizations.
