CARDINAL SIN REMEMBERED
ON HIS 2ND DEATH ANNIVERSARY
The Archdiocese of Manila will mark the second death anniversary of Jaime L. Cardinal Sin, its 32 nd Archbishop, on Thursday, June 21, with a solemn mass at 8 a.m. at the Manila Cathedral. Bishop Socrates B. Villegas of the Diocese of Manila and former Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila will be the main celebrant and homilist. Members of the clergy of the archdiocese and its suffragan dioceses are expected to concelebrate. Former President Corazon C. Aquino is expected to be present at the Mass.
Cardinal Sin passed away in 2005 after a debilitating ailment. He was retired as archbishop of Manila by Pope John Paul II in September 2003, a month after his 75 th birthday. He was archbishop of Manila for 29 years and throughout a turbulent period in the nation’s history. He’s hailed as a hero of Edsa I, the People Power which brought to an end the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.
All are invited to the Mass as a way of remembering a great person—a priest, prophet and shepherd. ##
