Center promoting liturgical music opens
The Catholic Resource Center, a venue for promoting liturgical music, has opened. Manila Archbishop Gaudencio B. Rosales presided at its blessing and inauguration on March 29.
The Center was pt up by Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo together with three other diocesan priests, as part of his Jubilee Ministry Foundation. Fr. Marcelo is a renowned Church musician and composer. Among his popular works are the Jubilee Song and the theme songs for the World Meeting of Families, the Year of the Rosary, and other Church events.
According to Fr. Marcelo, the Center will be a source of Liturgical Music information. The Center has reading materials on Sacred Music and Ministry, and tapes, CDs and musical scores on Catholic music.
The main goal of the Center is to promote Catholic Music and whatever profits obtained from its sales will support charitable projects. The Center also hopes to serve as links to schools or organizations that produce or present Church music. It will also provide technical support to individuals or groups on recording their compositions or music.
Collaborating with Fr. Carlo Marcelo in the ministry is Fr. Mimo Perez of the Apostolic Prelature of Calapan who promotes and conducts Acoustic recollections. Fr. Perez has also released several CDs featuring Church songs which he composed.
The Center is located at the 3 rd floor of the Laiko building, Cabildo Street, Intramuros, Manila.
