MANILA OFFICIALS TO GIVE REPORT TO CONSTITUENTS
THROUGH ASSEMBLY OF VICARIATES

Officials of the City of Manila led by Mayor Alfredo Lim will give a report during a town-hall style assembly called “Ulat sa Lungsod ng Maynila 2007” on October 13, 2007 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Manila Cathedral School, Tayuman, Tondo, Manila.

The event is being spearheaded by the Vicariate of the Holy Spirit with Msgr. Jay Noriel Bandojo as Vicar Forane, together with vicariate’s PPCRV desk. The Vicariate includes the parishes of Holy Spirit and San Roque in Sta. Cruz and Immaculate Conception, Risen Christ, St. Joseph, San Jose Manggagawa in Gagalangin, Tondo, Santa Monica and San Rafael in Tondo. The “Ulat” will be a follow-up of the Candidates’ Forum which the vicariate also organized before the elections in May 2007. Because of the success of the forum, all the vicariates of the Archdiocese of Manila which are in the City of Manila, have decided to participate in “Ulat.” The other vicariates are Nuestra Señora de Guia (Ermita District), Our Lady of Loreto (Sampaloc and Sta. Mesa Districts), and Holy Family (Paco and Singalong Districts) for a total of 30 parishes. A vicariate is a group of about five to eight parishes of one or two neighboring districts. It is headed by a Vicar Forane who is elected by the parish priests of the vicariate.

Mayor Lim, his vice mayor Iskho Moreno and representative councilors of the city’s six districts will give the report on their 100 days in office. Lay representatives from the vicariates can, in turn, ask questions or bring up their concerns to the city officials.

PPCRV Chairperson Ambassador Henrietta T. de Villa will give the welcome address while Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo will give the closing remarks and final blessing. COMELEC Commissioner Rene Sarmiento has been invited to deliver an inspirational message.

The organizers of the activity aim to bring about collaboration and mutual cooperation between government officials and parish activities through this activity. It is also directed at reminding the city officials of the promises they made during their campaign for elective office.
