MAPSA GIVES OUT SEDES SAPIENTIAE AWARDS
Five non-teaching, non-academic employees of school-members of the Manila ArchdiocesanParochial Schools Association (MAPSA) have been nominated to the SedesSapientiae” Awardee or Seat of Wisdom Awardee for 2006-2007. MAPSA is an association of 192 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Manila and several other dioceses in nearby cities and provinces. It has about 1,000 non-teaching and non-academic employees.
The five are Lolita Delos Santos of Paco Catholic School, Ernesto Gregorio of Pasig Catholic College, Marietta D.C. Reyes of Colegio San Pascual Baylon, Rodolfo S. Serrano of St. Anthony School and Roman Daonis of Pasig Catholic College.
They were chosen by a panel headed by Manila Auxiliary Bishop Bernardino Cortez which conducted series of interviews of those nominated by the MAPSA school directors. Judging was based on length of service, educational attainment, contribution to the schools they worked for and service to the community where they belong. The nominees are the maintenance staff members, school drivers, canteen personnel, support staff and school nurses.
The Award aims to recognize and give value to the silent yet significant contributions made by non- teaching, non- Academic personnel to the successful running of the Catholic educational institutions. It highlights the invaluable service they provide to the school, students, parents, the Church and the community.
Awardees will receive prizes given by sponsors such as The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for the first prize; ING Bank for the second prize, Catholic Travel for the third prize, the MAPSA directors for contributing their solidarity fund to support the program, the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation and RCAM (Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila. ###
