Dear Monsignors, Fathers and Sisters,

Greetings of peace!

Last 13th of May 1992, Pope John Paul II instituted “WORLD DAY OF THE SICK” to be celebrated on the month of February every year.  In this celebration, we are urged to show our love, compassion and care for the sick, the aged, the disabled, and the dying.

This coming 11th of February 2010, on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Archdiocese of Manila-Ministry of Health Care in coordination with the Philippine Association Sovereign Military Order of Malta shall hold an Archdiocesan mass for the sick to commemorate the 18th World Day of the Sick.  I have been informed that Your Eminence has agreed and confirmed to be the main celebrant.  The said event will be held in Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Metropolitan Cathedral) Cabildo cor. Beaterio Sts., Intramuros, Manila at 9:00 a.m.

On this special day, let us show to our sick brothers and sisters that we truly care for them by inviting them to come over especially those who can attend the mass.  Let us also show our solidarity with them by also making ourselves present in this celebration.
