Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle closed the Catholic Church’s three-year rehabilitation program for the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda.

Cardinal Tagle, who is also the President of Caritas Internationalis, visited the survivors of the calamity and celebrated Mass at the St. Micahel the Archangel Parish in Basey, Samar in the Diocese of Calbayog on June 1. The Holy Eucharist was attended by the survivors, bishops, members of the different Social Action Centers of different dioceses, and representatives from various organizations of Caritas Internationalis.

During his homily, Cardinal Tagle expressed that his visit to the areas devastated by the typhoon was a celebration of thanksgiving for the survivors who showed bravery after the disaster as well as the different church organizations who have helped the victims find courage to live again.

He also told them that the will and determination of the survivors to stand from the struggle were manifestations of the spirit of unity and love among themselves.

he said.

Cardinal Tagle stressed that despite the hardship the survivors have experienced, may love and hope be the message that will resonate throughout the country and the world.

he said.

At the end of his homily, the Archbishop of Manila wished and prayed that love, gratefulness, and unity will reign in their hearts to live in harmony and peace.

he said. (Jheng Manalang Prado/RCAM-AOC and Rowel Garcia/Radio Veritas)
