San
Carlos Seminary holds alumni homecoming
San Carlos Seminary, the seminary of the Archdiocese
of Manila, will hold an alumni homecoming on Nov. 17-19, to coincide
with its observance of the 50th anniversary of its stay
in its present site at EDSA, Makati City.
Jaime L. Cardinal Sin, retired archbishop of Manila, will give
the keynote address during the homecoming’s Jubilarians
Day on Nov. 18. It will also
be the seminary’s way of paying tribute to the Cardinal who
will turn over the post to incoming Archbishop Gaudencio
B. Rosales.
The San Carlos Seminary was instituted
a hundred years ago but it was only in the last
half century that it found a permanent home in Makati
City. The incoming archbishop
of Manila, Archbishop Rosales served as its rector in the early
80s.
The homecoming opens on Nov.
17 with a recollection to be facilitated by Bishop Deogracias
Iņiguez, bishop of Kalookan, on the Ecclesia de Eucharistia. Bishop Iņiguez will
also be the presider at the Mass to be celebrated
at 3 p.m. at the seminary chapel.
The general assembly on
the second day, Nov. 18, will feature a business meeting after its
opening, followed by a talk by lay preacher Bo Sanchez and the oath-taking
of the new board members.
The
morning activities will be capped by a mass and the address of Cardinal
Sin.
The afternoon session will feature two presentations. The first
at 2 p.m. will done by Atty. Jo Imbong
on House Bill 4110 otherwise known as the Reproductive Health Care
Act. The second at 3 p.m. is on the CBCP's Paper on the Pastoral Care of Victims and Offenders,
Handling Cases of Sexual Abuse and Misconducts by the Clergy to
be done by Bishop Nereo Odchimar
of the Diocese of Tandag, Surigao. The day will be capped by a testimonial dinner
featuring a “street party motif” at the seminary gym.
Bishop Socrates Villegas, auxiliary bishop of Manila will be bless and
inaugurate the SCSAA at 9 a.m. on the last day of the homecoming.
This will be followed by the celebration of the Mass with Ricardo
Cardinal Vidal during which the outstanding Karlistas
