Archbishop Rosales
marks 72nd birthday
Manila Archbishop Gaudencio B. Rosales marked his 72 nd birthday on August 10, with a two-day solitary retreat where, he said, he took time to thank the Lord for all the blessings that he has received in his life.
Speaking before an assembly of priests and workers of the Arzobispado at a “surprise” luncheon at the Villa Immaculada in Intramuros on August 11, Archbishop Rosales said that he only reached up to the first one and a half-decades of his life in his review and prayer of thanksgiving. “I’m in my seventh decade of my life, maybe I should be given more time off, for my birthday thanksgiving.”
The Archbishop profusely thanked the priests and Church workers present for the “kind and thoughtful gesture” of organizing the surprise “party”. Among those who came to surprise him were Davao Archbishop Fernando Capalla, CBCP president, and Bishop Eduardo Juanich of the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay.
Earlier Archbishop Rosales cut the ribbon, ceremonially opening a “mini” photographic exhibit on “Pondo ng Pinoy” and the National Congress of the Clergy, two big events that he spearheaded since being installed in Manila in November last year.
