Cardinal Sin opens Interactive Rosary Exhibit on Aug. 15

Click here for schedule! The Interactive Rosary Exhibit of the Archdiocese of Manila opens on Friday, August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at 9 a.m. at the PNB Finance Center in Parañaque. The exhibit is part of the archdiocesan celebration of the Year of the Holy Rosary as declared by Pope John Paul II to mark the 25th year of his pontificate, from October 2002 to October 2003. The exhibit also signals the start of the festivities for the 75th birth anniversary of Jaime Cardinal Sin, archbishop of Manila on August 31, 2003.

Cardinal Sin will be the guest of honor at the opening ceremonies, which will be preceded by the praying of the Rosary by children at 8:30 a.m.

The Interactive Rosary Exhibit features different aspects related to the Marian devotion. The Family Rosary Crusade shows a visual walk-through to the Mysteries of the Rosary and an exhibit of rosaries from important people and rosary collectors such as Cardinal Sin and President Corazon Aquino.

The highlight of the entire exhibit is the virtual pilgrimage to the various Marian shrines in the world. Those going through the exhibit can obtain a “pilgrim’s passport”, which lists all the sites. Each pilgrimage “site” shows a blow-up photo of the actual place including the Marian image and a description of the place, devotion and prayers.

Among the pilgrimage sites featured are Our Lady of Beauraing in Belgium, Our Lady of Montserrat in Spain, Our Lady of Lourdes in France, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Israel, Our Lady of Loreto in Italy, Our Lady of Knock in Ireland, Our Lady of Akira in Japan, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, the Black Madonna in Poland, and Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.

The exhibit also shows various Marian pilgrim images in the Philippines among them, Our Lady of Peñafrancia, Our Lady of Manaoag, Our Lady of Piat, and Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.

The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will run until September 8, 2003.

Overall organizer of the exhibit is the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission of the Archdiocese of Manila together with the Family Rosary Crusade and other organizations.
